A London man suffered a stabbing attack in which his newly purchased copy of Grand Theft Auto V was stolen.
Much of the core gameplay in the Grand Theft Auto series involves illegal activities. It's just better when those heists remain in the realm of the imaginary. A London man wasn't so fortunate.
The much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto V went on sale at midnight. Just over an hour later, a gamer who stayed up late to buy a copy was assaulted.
BBC News quotes a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman as saying, "The victim had been shopping and was on his way home when he was hit with a brick. He was then stabbed and robbed."
BBC News reports the victim is in stable condition at a hospital and that no arrest has been made. The police are asking the public for any leads.
A watch and phone were stolen along with the game. There's no indication of whether or not the game was the impetus for the attack or a opportunistic side effect of the mugging.
