Man accused of forgetting 2-year-old while buying 51-inch TV
In another Black Friday story of woe, a man is accused of leaving a child in a car while he shopped for a TV. He allegedly forgets to go back for the child -- who is rescued by police.
There is nothing wrong with Black Friday.
Save for the fact that it seems to bring out behaviors that may well have perplexed Neanderthals.
One example might be that of a man who pulled a gun on a line-cutter at a Sears in San Antonio, Texas.
Another might be the following joyous, spirit-lifting tale from Springfield, Mass.
According to police, 34-year-old Anthony Perry was very much excited by a 51-inch TV at his local K-Mart.
He allegedly drove to the mall at around 1:30 a.m., his girlfriend's 2-year-old in tow.
As WWLP News tells it, the police claim Perry then bought the TV, didn't go back to his car, and left the 2-year-old inside it.
Indeed, mall plaza security allegedly noticed the boy asleep inside the car and called the police -- who then freed the boy.
Should these truly be the facts, I am sure many will find different interpretations for this rather careless Black Friday excitement.
Could it be that possession of a bargain 51-inch TV is so pulsating that one's memory is temporarily impaired?
Could it be that this is merely a case of priorities gone slightly askew under pressure?
The police reportedly say Perry told them he took the little boy with him into K-Mart and the boy had then managed to lose himself in the throng.
However, amnesia might well have already kicked in, as the police also say Perry never reported the boy missing.
This factor might contribute to him being charged with reckless endangerment to a child.
Police are still trying to discover why, as they tell it, Perry left the car in the parking lot and went home by some other means -- with the TV.
Surely the day after Black Friday ought to be called the Day of Atonement.
