Lounge like the Emperor in this Star Wars-themed movie theater

A cinema in Nebraska joins the dark side with a Star Wars-themed lobby complete with Death Star, Emperor Palpatine's throne and Empire-style lighting.

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has clearly found it useless to resist the dark side of the Force. The US theater chain has opened a new Star Wars-themed movie theater in Omaha, Nebraska, just in time for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," though the venue will show all kinds of movies.

The lobby in the new theater is filled with intergalactic decorations inspired by the Empire. The moment customers walk through the glass doors, they're greeted by a massive, 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) Death Star hanging from the ceiling.

Customers will find the Death Star quite operational, as the model space station fires its customary green superlaser and looks primed to destroy Alderaan or any other planet in its path.

The rest of the lobby is also right on, with both the ticketing booth and lobby lighting panels looking like they'd fit right in on the Death Star or Imperial Star Destroyer ships.

And if you're feeling inspired by the dark side, you can lounge on the Emperor's throne and use its built-in controls to power up the Death Star, presumably scaring some folks in the lobby in the process.

The only things the new Star Wars theater are missing is a Star Wars-themed cantina that serves the new Star Wars ice cream and spaces to experience the recently released Star Wars VR Google Cardboard experience.

The eight-screen theater, which officially opened November 4, will show more than just Star Wars movies. One room is equipped with the Dolby Atmos sound system, and another has a 35 mm projector that will be used to screen classic films, according to Omaha.com.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" lands in theaters on December 17 in the UK and Australia, followed by December 18 in the US.
