They might not be sexy, but the affordable, workaday mouse and keyboard set is a mainstay for any respectable input device maker. And while Logitech's $60 Cordless Desktop S520 is more expensive than Microsoft's new $50 Wireless Media Desktop 1000, both are reasonably priced for what you get.
And what is it, exactly, that you get with these desktop sets? Each offers a standard battery-powered wireless mouse and keyboard. Microsoft went all out on extra hot keys; Logitech, as it's wont, paid more attention to the fit-and-finish, with fewer hot keys but more thought invested in their location on the keyboard.
