Listen to the bell tower version of the 'Game of Thrones' theme

Bells sound a familiar geeky theme song and brighten up a cloudy afternoon at a Wisconsin university.

Warning: You might be humming this theme song for the rest of the day.

Last week, lucky University of Wisconsin-Madison students (and staff) had a chance to hear the "Game of Thrones" theme song in a performance style uncommon to this century -- through the expertise of a carillonneur commanding the sheer musical might of 56 bells.

Lyle Anderson, the university's official bell keeper for nearly 30 years, plays the theme song on the elaborate carillon instrument, which consists of a tower housing a special piano that manipulates bells varying in size from 15 to 6,823 pounds. Coincidentally, Anderson happens to look similar to "Thrones" character Lord Commander Jeor Mormont of the Night's Watch (played by actor James Cosmo). Winter is coming!

Methinks Lord Commander Lyle Anderson has a nice -- ahem -- ring to it. I have a feeling that Anderson might be getting a few geeky song requests very soon, as others have done some incredible bell-laden versions of the "Star Wars" and Zelda themes.
