LG announces a bundle of new LCDs

LG has announced an array of 20 new LCDs for 2007 at CES, but didn't cough up many details.

LG has announced a whole slew of new LCDs for 2007 at CES, 20 models in all. The press release is light on details--we didn't learn any pricing or availability--but we did get a basic outline of what each new series will have.

The LC7 series
The LC7 series LG

The LC7 series has screen sizes ranging from 26 to 47 inches. The 47-inch model is a 1080p set, but LG didn't reveal the native resolutions of the others. LG says there will be at least two HDMI inputs on every LCD larger than 26 inches, so that means every set in the LC7 series will have two. The only information we got was some notoriously unreliable specs, including a 5,000:1 contrast ratio and a 178-degree viewing angle.

LG also rolled out its LB4D series, which consists of 32-inch, 37-inch, 42-inch and 47-inch models. The 47-inch set is a 1080p HDTV, and again, LG didn't announce the native resolutions of the other sets. All the sets also feature a 120Hz refresh rate, which has been showing up in a lot of LCDs at CES and will supposedly reduce streaking and ghosting. All these sets have three HDMI inputs, along with a USB port for importing JPEGs and MP3s.

The LB5D series includes 37-, 42-, 47- and 52-inch models. All of these sets are 1080p HDTVs. Like the LB4D series, they feature a USB port and three HDMI inputs.

The LY3D series consists of 47-, 52- and 57-inch models. These sets are also 1080p HDTVs, but they feature some upgrades such as a wide color gamut, as well. For connectivity, we know only that this series will have two HDMI inputs.

Finally, the LS7D comprises two sets, a 20-inch and a 23-inch LCD. No other information was released about the LS7D series.
