Do your eyes light up when you get near a smartphone, or a video game controller? Now your fingernails can too, if these work as advertised. Get the upper hand in finding near-field communications (NFC) signals with Lumi Deco Nail by Japan's Takara Tomy Arts.
These fingernail stickers, which give the impression of fresh-manicured nails, come in a variety of colorful designs and apparently also include built-in LEDs that light up when detecting Android smartphones, tablets, mobile wallets, video game controllers, and other NFC-enabled devices.
Each Lumi Deco Nail set comes with 16 standard fingernail stickers, one LED built-in nail sticker, and a nail file for $12. An app to go with the nails is supposed to also be available to download soon to customize LED flashing.
Lately, LEDs have been taking over the fashion world with hashtag dresses, clubwear and T-shirts, and sound-reactive LED jewelry. So it's no surprise that fingernails would be next. Now if we could only get fashion designers to create something that could boost a Wi-Fi signal, we'd be happy.
