Intel to use StrongARM in Web Tablet

Intel on Monday announced that its Web Tablet will depend upon a StrongARM processor, rather than a member of its Celeron family. The Tablet, which will come out later this year, is a portable, wireless Internet-surfing device that looks like a laptop's screen. The StrongARM chip, which Intel also makes, is more battery-friendly than Celerons. Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer use a StrongARM in their Pocket PC based handhelds. As reported earlier, Intel will show off the Tablet at its developer forum this week in San Jose, Calif. The Tablet also contains the Windstorm operating system from Wind River, the Espial Escape Browser and audio software from BeComm.
