Damn.

That's about all I can say about Sunday night's incredible finale to the fifth season of HBO's hit fantasy series "Game of Thrones." So much happened it's hard to keep track of it all, but a new behind-the-scenes video from HBO shows us how the team managed to bring it all together.

In the clip, we see inside the minds of showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, and learn how they envisioned things coming to a close. For example, Weiss speaks about how Stannis was at peace when Brienne of Tarth showed up to kill him. He had just realized that the horrible act he committed in the previous episode -- having Melisandre burn his daughter as an offering to the Lord of Light -- was for naught, as he would not be able to take Winterfell. When Brienne arrived, Stannis was "pretty much ready to be done," and was relieved that Brienne was there to "do her duty."

But that's just one of the many storylines from Sunday's episode, and you should definitely watch the video above to learn even more about what went into making that mind-blowing finale. Then be sure to read CNET writer Eric Mack's take on the finale and what we have to look forward to in Season 6.

Sadly, we have to wait another year -- well, 42 weeks to be exact -- until the quest for the Iron Throne continues with the limited number of people who are still left.
