IBM's stuffy dress code through the ages

IBM has a well-earned reputation for requiring its employees to dress in an unofficial jacket-and-tie uniform. Corporate fashion historians doubtless will be excited to learn that IBM, in a moment of self-reflection, has provided a gallery of dress code examples.

As the decades progress, the ties gradually widen, then grow narrow again. By 1997, Big Blue's protocols loosened up enough to allow ties to vanish altogether.
