Holy new look, Batman! Batsuit and Batmobile unveiled

Director Zack Snyder quits teasing and gives fans a much better look at the new Batmobile along with a first reveal of the new Batsuit.

Everyone has a favorite Batman look. You might be into the Adam West spandex suit or Christian Bale's muted beetle-carapace appearance. The variety of previous bat-looks must have left the costume designers of the upcoming Batman/Superman movie with quite a challenge. Now we know how they're handling it. Director Zack Snyder tweeted out a photo of both the new Batmobile and the new Batsuit.

Sure, the pic is all smokey, dark, and atmospheric, but we can still see quite a bit. The Batsuit appears to be textured all over. Ben Affleck's cleft chin pokes out from under the mask and a flowing cape slides subtlety down his back. There appears to be a wide bat-logo on the chest. I zoomed in on the photo and, as far as I can tell, there are no molded bat-nipples. Sorry, George Clooney, you're going to be stuck with that look forever.

We got a decent gander at the Batmobile's rugged rear end yesterday. The tarp has now been stripped off to show a good chunk of the front and top of the vehicle. It kind of looks like a cross between Bale's Tumbler Batmobile, a stealth fighter, and a complicated piece of origami.

Snyder helpfully tells us he used a Leica M Monochrom camera to capture the image, which might be our first bit of product placement as the movie heads into principal photography in Michigan.

It's hard to extrapolate too much about the upcoming film just based on a couple of teaser photos, but I'd say it's a good bet we're going to get a dark and moody take on the famous superhero. Let your eyes pore over the picture. Take it all in. Are you excited about "Batman vs. Superman," or is this too close to the Bale-era take on the story?
