Hillary Clinton tweet-sniffs at media after Macron win

Commentary: In congratulating new French President Emmanuel Macron on Twitter, the losing US Democratic candidate can't resist sniping at the media.

It can't be easy watching someone leading the polls by a sizable margin and actually win an election.

For losing US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, therefore, seeing Emmanuel Macron winning the French presidential elections incited mixed feelings.

She took to Twitter on Sunday to muse: "Victory for Macron, for France, the EU, & the world." Many might see it this way. He was definitely not the candidate that many believe to be overtly racist.

Still, Clinton wasn't done. She added: "Defeat to those interfering w/democracy. (But the media says I can't talk about that)."

Last week, Clinton offered a few reasons why she believed she lost to Donald Trump.

Among them: "I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey's letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me and got scared off."

Many observers believe that Russian operatives again tried to interfere in the French elections. Clinton's sniping at the media -- at least she didn't call it fake -- is likely a reaction to some pointing out that she'd "had her turn" and that the Russians didn't stop her from campaigning in, say, Wisconsin -- which she omitted to do.

The president has already made his feelings on Clinton's explanation clear.

"FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds! The phony Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?" he said in two tweets.

The FBI, however, is still investigating Russian connections with the Trump campaign. What would Clinton tweet if there was found to have been collusion? I fancy there might be a tweetstorm.
