If you think you're as tough as Ripley, then you can try your luck against a creepy alien baby with your very own Xenomorph egg.

You're hanging out on an alien planet. There are some interesting big nodule-looking things all over the place. Let's see what we've got here. Interesting...oh my freakin'...what the?! Boom. You've got a deadly alien facehugger attached to your kisser.

You can live that experience of fascination and fear every day in the comfort of your own home with a life-size Xenomorph egg replica from toymaker NECA.

The egg is nearly 36 inches (91 centimeters) tall and is made from hand-painted foam that gives it a shiny, squicky look. It's pretty spot-on for how the eggs looked in the 1986 space-horror sequel "Aliens."

The flaps on the top of the egg have a hidden wire armature so you can open them or keep them closed to contain the life-sucking creature within. The included full-size facehugger has a posable tail to better help it cling to your neck after it attacks.

Battery-powered LED lights set inside the base give the egg a warm glow, making it perhaps the creepiest nightlight you could possibly buy. NECA introduced the egg late last week along with images that show the detailed veining and worm-like roots.

NECA will release the egg upon an unsuspecting world in March 2016. Geeky retailer Entertainment Earth already has a listing for the replica up on its site with a $428.99 (about £282, AU$603) price tag. It's an expensive prop that might give you nightmares, but it's also a delightful way to celebrate the "Alien" franchise.
