A lot of Star Wars fans spend long hours obsessing over their cosplay outfits. They strive to get every detail right, to make the costume look like it just strolled off the set. Every now and then, fans get the opportunity to own a truly unique slice of memorabilia: a costume piece that was actually worn on film. Right now, that opportunity is in the form of an auction for Han Solo's jacket from "The Force Awakens."

Han Solo has always had a classic sense of style and his look in "The Force Awakens," released in December, doesn't stray too far from the character's appearance in the first three Star Wars films. Harrison Ford wore a custom-made leather jacket that looks both rugged and comfortable.

The auction, conducted through online marketplace IfOnly, benefits the NYU Langone Medical Center and its FACES (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) program.

Ford's daughter Georgia has epilepsy. "I've been very impressed with the work NYU and the FACES team have done in the field of epilepsy research, and I hope this jacket will provide some means to further that exploration. This is a cause that's near and dear to me, and unlike the cynical Han Solo, I've got a good feeling about this," Ford said in a statement.

The jacket seems to have survived the rigorous "Force Awakens" shooting schedule in fine condition. It no doubt has some serious Solo mojo worn into the lining. Ford himself signed the interior of the jacket in a location where the autograph will be hidden if you buy it and wear it to your next comic convention.

Bidding on the jacket is currently up to $33,000 (about £22,900, AU$42,900) with 11 days left to run on the auction. It kicked off at $15,000, so expect the price to rise as the April 11 closing date approaches.
