GXS appoints new financial chief

E-commerce company Global eXchange Services (GXS) said Tuesday it has hired John Soenksen to fill the post of chief financial officer. GXS was General Electric's online commerce unit until GE spun it off as a separate business last year. GE, which invested hundreds of millions of dollars in GXS, still relies on its electronic marketplace for finding business supplies. It bought about $20 billion worth of goods and services through GXS last year.

Soenksen has held finance posts at number of other high-tech companies, including Multilink Technology and SAP.
