Glowing new 'Ghostbusters' cast photo stacked with proton packs

Get ready to fight some phantasms with an official "Ghostbusters" cast photo showing the banshee-battling women in full battle regalia.

At this point, we don't even need to ask the question "Who you gonna call?" The answer is Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, the lead cast of the upcoming "Ghostbusters" movie, set for release in July 2016.

This isn't the first image we've seen of the crew, but it offers a dynamic glimpse into the world of the film. The cast is in costume with proton packs on their backs and the tips of the neutrino wands glowing. There is not a trace of goopy ectoplasm anywhere, so we can assume they're about to go into battle.

The setting appears to be a hotel lobby. There's an unnatural green light emanating from behind the ghost fighters and fog floats across the floor, obscuring their boots. Their expressions convey one message: "We ain't afraid of no ghosts."

"Ghostbusters" fan site Proton Charging got the nod to be the first to share the official image, releasing it on Twitter Wednesday. "Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig promptly retweeted the shot to his 1.6 million followers.

Feig hasn't been thrilled with the number of unofficial photographs taken on set and leaked online. He talked to Yahoo Movies in September about the leaks, saying, "We're still filmmakers who want to surprise you with stuff."

Feig has counteracted the unofficial shots by tweeting out photos of his own, including images of the proton packs, the Ecto-1 car and the entire lead cast in their ghostbusting gear. At least with the new image, all he had to do was retweet.
