Give Road Trip tips, get Halo beta codes

Daniel Terdiman will head out on Road Trip 2010 in June and wants help figuring out where to go. If you're a Halo fan, this is your ticket into the Halo: Reach beta.

During Road Trip 2008, I visited NASA's Johnson Space Center and got a look at an early prototype of a lunar rover. I'm looking for similar things to do on Road Trip 2010 on the East Coast this summer.

Update (Saturday, 8:40 p.m.): All the Halo:Reach codes are now spoken for. Thanks so much to all who made so many great suggestions.

You know you want them.

I'm sitting here at my desk with 10 Halo: Reach beta codes burning a hole in my in-box. And I want to give them to you.

But I need your help in return.

In late June, I'm going to be leaving on Road Trip 2010, my fifth-annual journey around a region of the country, reporting and writing on and photographing some of the most interesting destinations the United States has to offer.

Some past highlights include: visiting Cheyenne Mountain, the former home of NORAD; touring Hoover Dam behind the scenes; going through the tunnels of Las Vegas; watching initiation day at theU.S. Air Force Academy; piloting Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose; walking on the Skywalk at Grand Canyon West; and getting a look at a lunar rover at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

This summer, I'll be heading to the East Coast and spending some time driving through most of the eastern seaboard. What I need are some good suggestions of things to report on in places like New York City and New York State, Virginia, Maine, and Vermont.

If you've got a great idea, please send it to me by e-mail at daniel dot terdiman at cnet dot com. If you're one of the first 10 people to send me an idea that makes sense for this project, and which I wasn't already considering, I'll reward you with a Halo: Reach beta code. The beta, by the way, opens on May 3.

One thing to remember is that the destinations I visit on Road Trip generally must be highly photogenic, so I can put together a good photo gallery as well as a story. For some tips on what makes a good candidate, you can look at what I've done the past couple of years on Road Trip 2009 and Road Trip 2008.

So, have at it. I look forward to getting your suggestions, and hopefully, I'll have something to send your way as well. Good luck.
