Fans wanting to pay tribute to Groot from Marvel's hit movie "Guardians of the Galaxy" while curbing hunger can now satisfy their dessert desires with these Groot Cookies from JustJenn Recipes.

Jenn from the JustJenn Recipes food blog explains how to make Groot, a mindful tree-like creature, into a yummy brown sugar cookie compete with chocolate bark and matcha powder green foliage.

"I always thought Groot deserved more of the limelight, he was always by Rocket's side," Jenn told Crave. "I guess I wasn't the only one who felt that way because now that everyone's seen 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' turns out they made him into the heart of the movie! I thought cookies were a great way to celebrate all things Groot. Let's face it, cookies are my way of celebrating everything."

Fans can make these Groot cookies using flour, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, butter, eggs, chocolate frosting, black frosting, and matcha (green tea) powder.

After you roll the cookie dough out at about 1/4 inch thick, "cut out random tree-ish shapes approx 4 inches tall and transfer onto the silpat lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes then let cool on a wire rack," according to Jenn's recipe.

Once the cookies have baked, cooled, and are ready to decorate, use chocolate frosting lines to mimic tree bark and black frosting for Groot's eyes and mouth. For Groot's leafy head use a pastry paintbrush dipped in Matcha powder to add green highlights.

Speaking of cookies, one has to wonder what Groot's preferred treat would be. "I think Groot's favorite cookie would be a Jammie Dodger," Jenn told Crave. "After all, he and the Doctor from Doctor Who both regenerate and I'm 100 percent sure regeneration factor has to do with cookies."

She ought to know. Jenn is no stranger to creating geektastic edibles. She has paid tribute to the Millennium Falcon in Jell-O. She's baked and decorated a severed Wampa arm cake, and let's not forget her delightful Admiral Ackbar cupcakes!
