If you don't know what a floppy drive is, that's okay. It's like the 8-track of the computer world. Don't know what an 8-track is? Google it while you're listening to a symphony of floppy drives offer up a spirited rendition of the catchy theme song from "Game of Thrones."
Paweł Zadrożniak's Floppotron 2.0 is a bizarre machine made up of 64 outdated floppy drives, eight hard disks and two scanners. Together, they make beautiful music through the sounds of their motors running at different speeds. The song comes off quite well in this unusual format. It sounds like it would be a great accompaniment to a retro "Game of Thrones" 8-bit game. The video closes in on all the different components of the Floppotron, offering a good look at the complexity of the impressive musical device.
The Floppotron's cover stands proudly beside other efforts, including versions done on an '80s game console keytar, in mariachi style and using wine glasses. Now, if only we can get that keytar and the Floppotron together for a duet of "The Rains of Castamere," then my weird-versions-of-"Game of Thrones"-songs bingo card will be complete.
