Though he gets to say only one word (over and over) as the character he plays on HBO's smash show "Game of Thrones," Kristian Nairn, aka Hodor, is quite expressive. At least when he's behind the decks DJing parties like those on the "Rave of Thrones" tour he embarked on earlier this year. Apparently Nairn has been a musician and DJ for 20 years, according to Wired, and he's just released his own original debut tracks.
The main release, called "Up," is a pretty standard house track, with a bit of disco sprinkled throughout. Or, as Nairn's label, Radikal Records, puts it, it has "an upbeat tempo with a feel-good vibe that offers beautiful synths and a piano melody, combined with the dreamy vocals of Leanne Robinson." Robinson is a soul singer from east London.
The B-side of the single is called "Beacon," which is a bit more atmospheric and trancey -- "a progressive-house track with a unique blend of heavy synths and electro elements; making the song a perfect addition for an after-hours DJ set." You can listen to both tracks on Nairn's SoundCloud page.
Nairn's "Rave of Thrones" tour wraps up in Europe this month with a June 20 show in Newport, Wales, and a June 27 gig in Marseille, France. He'll also be doing a show in New York on August 13. If you can't get to those, you can buy both of his new tracks in a variety of mixes on iTunes.
