Former HP exec to join Nokia

Finnish phone maker Nokia on Monday appointed Mary McDowell as its senior vice president and general manager of enterprise solutions, effective Jan. 1. McDowell, a former Compaq Computer executive, most recently held the position of senior vice president of strategy and corporate development at Hewlett-Packard. At Nokia, she will head the enterprise group, which comprises mobile devices and security issues.

McDowell announced earlier this month that she was leaving HP to "pursue personal and professional interests." A few other HP chiefs have announced their departures in recent weeks, including human resources executive Susan Bowick, who announced last week that she would retire at the end of the year.
