"Lean on me," says the LeanChair. LeanChair

There's a war on office chairs raging across the land. Some workers are embracing standing desks, sending their padded rolling seats into retirement. If the LeanChair on Kickstarter takes off, then desk jockeys will have a third option besides just sitting or standing.

As the name implies, the LeanChair is all about leaning back while you work, making it a reclining standing desk. Wayne Yeager, a software developer and the project's creator, tried out a standing desk and found it uncomfortable after the first hour. This led to experiments in leaning while standing, which brought about the invention of the LeanChair.

The idea is that the LeanChair takes some of your body weight off your feet and legs and transfers it to the chair where you lean back. Structural steel support legs and a padded back make for a solid build. An integrated platform holds your keyboard and mouse. It's the standing equivalent of kicking back in an office chair and putting your feet up.

The LeanChair is going for a $295 pledge (which includes your choice of black, brown, tan or white upholstery) and ships to the US only. Desk-bound Kickstarter backers are willing to give the LeanChair a try. It has pulled in more than $29,000 in funding, topping its $25,000 goal with 22 days left to run.

Yeager has been through a series of prototypes over the last two years but is still finalizing the design specs for the production model. If the Kickstarter delivers as promised, it might bring a whole new feel to the office environment, with desk jockeys leaning back, chilling out and getting work done.
