Fan-made trailer mashes up 'Star Wars' and 'Star Trek' universes

Captain Kirk has met his most formidable opponent yet in this fan-made trailer for a fictional 1985 movie called "The Carbonite Maneuver." Kirk will find the Force is very strong with this villain.

What would happen if Captain Kirk met Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire? That's the premise of this fan-made trailer released last week for a fictional movie called "The Carbonite Maneuver," which pits the crew of the Starship Enterprise against the Death Star and its fearless commander.

The trailer was made by YouTube filmmaker SonOfSpork, and is fashioned after the VHS-era movie trailers of the 1980s. Watch as the Starship Enterprise gets trapped in a galaxy far, far away, caught in the middle of an interstellar war between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, while tracking lines from the old VHS videos flash across the screen. Darth Vader plays the supervillain in the clip, naturally, and sets his sights on the 23rd century with his ultimate weapon.

Check out the clip for yourself in the video above and watch galaxies clash as the "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" universes mash together in the battle for the fate of the known universe.
