Facebook: love it, hate it or just don't care about it, you've got to admit that it knows how to get a buzz going.

Our US colleagues (and other media outlets, obviously) were teased last week with an invite by Facebook asking them to "come and see what we're building". The rumour mill went into overdrive, with even Wall Street pundits believing that this is a major step up in Facebook's attempts to monetise its users. Believe it or not, the news that Facebook had news to reveal added 9 per cent to its stock price.

It's all happening in the San Francisco area at 10am local time — about 3am AEDST tomorrow morning for us. If you're up and tingling with anticipation, you can follow the US CNET live blog from the event.

Otherwise, we'll have the news and a chat with Facebook product managers about the local ramifications (if any) at a far more reasonable and post-coffee time tomorrow morning.
