Explosive new 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer debuts

The new trailer for Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman" movie has over-the-top fight scenes, an annoying Lex Luthor, a very impressive Wonder Woman and one destructive Doomsday-like monster.

"Batman v Superman" might be about two opposing caped crusaders, but Wonder Woman steals the show in this new trailer from Warner Bros.

If you've been waiting for the kind of superhero battle that blows up cities, then it appears "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" might make your destructive dreams come true.

In the upcoming film, Henry Cavill reprises his role as the Man of Steel, alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

This new "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer, which Warner Bros. released Wednesday night, starts off slow with Clark Kent awkwardly introducing himself to Bruce Wayne at a society function.

The passive aggressive insult fest starts up with Kent complaining that the vigilante Batman is out of control. And Wayne returns the barb by accusing The Daily Planet of only writing puff pieces about its favorite alien. So much for ethics in superhero journalism.

"Maybe it's the Gotham City in me," Wayne tells Kent. "We just have a bad history of freaks dressed like clowns."

BURN!

When Eisenberg as Lex Luthor butts into the insult-fest to make conversation, the moment becomes even more cringe-worthy. His Luthor seems more like a weird Woody Allen meets Mark Zuckerberg impression rather than the evil mastermind we've come to know from previous incarnations in film and on TV.

The new trailer also has previous footage from the new clip Warner Bros. released this Monday night of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" that felt almost like a "Scooby Doo" bad guy unmasking tribute.

Of course, the new trailer also features ominous scenes of angry red laser-eyed Superman, Batman speeding around in his Batmobile, and plenty of fight scenes in the rain. If that weren't enough, we also get a taste of a very destructive monster that seems to enjoy leveling cities. Doomsday, perhaps?

In addition to getting a better sense of Luthor, we also finally see Gadot as Wonder Woman either scare or impress both Batman and Superman in battle. Duh.

Here's hoping director Zach Snyder makes this the kind of DC Comics superhero showdown that we all want to see.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released on March 24, 2016, in Australia and March 25, 2016, in the UK and US. Check out the trailer below.
