This movie isn't about the action figure version of Buzz Lightyear we've gotten to know in the. Instead, it's an origin story for the character who inspired the toy -- a brave test pilot who becomes an awesome Space Ranger.
He's voiced by(replacing Toy Story actor ), who seems like an appropriate choice given the parallels between the origins of Buzz and Evans' Marvel character, .
"The phrase 'a dream come true' gets thrown around a lot, but I've never meant it more in my life," Evans said in a release. "Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can't believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day."
We don't hear much of Evans' performance in the trailer, but he utters one word of Buzz's catchphrase: "To infinity and beyond." Excellent use of David Bowie's Starman, too.
