E-joints: The toke of the future?

With the rise in prominence of "e-cigs," electronic cannabis may not be too far behind. A Dutch company claims it's created the first legal e-joint.

It looks like a joint, but it won't get you high.E-Njoint

With e-cigarettes taking over the world as a "safer" alternative to traditional cigarettes, it's little surprise that an electronic joint isn't too far behind.

To that end, Dutch manufacturer E-Njoint BV is rolling out an e-joint product, though it doesn't contain any trace of THC, the component of marijuana that gets you high. While there are already plenty of pot vaporizers marketed by medical marijuana clinics, E-Njoint claims that its product is the first e-joint of its kind that's 100 percent legal and harmless.

The E-Njoint was made to look like a joint, and even has a cannabis leaf on the end that lights up when you take a puff, but the only things you'll be puffing are the "safer" propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and, shudder, "100 percent biological flavor." There will be six fruity flavors in all, with the most prominent being green apple, watermelon, and red cherry.

That said, the e-joint is refillable, and you can fill it with hash oil or weed of your own if you'd like a more potent smoke. While we're sure you aren't too excited about fruity fake e-joints, perhaps this product will inspire others to create even more e-joints in the not-too-distant future. Because ganja, like nicotine, is ready to get vaped.

Update, 12:30 p.m. PT: Adds details on other marijuana vaporizers already available.
