Dell touts notebook with new Nvidia chip

On Monday Dell Computer unveiled new Inspiron 8000 notebooks with Nvidia's new GeForce2 Go mobile chip for 3D graphics. The companies are touting the new notebooks as the first ones that will allow people to play high-end 3D games "without compromises." Dell also asserts the notebooks are the first to combine double data rate (DDR) video memory and integrated Harman/Kardon Odyssey2 speakers. Prices start at $2,118 for a system equipped with a 900MHz Intel mobile Pentium III, a 15-inch SXGA+ display, 64MB of RAM, 16MB of DDR Nvidia video graphics memory, a 24X CD-ROM drive, a 10GB hard disk drive and an internal 56kbps modem.
