Danger sweetens products with Java

Wireless service company Danger announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with Sun Microsystems to be a licensee of its Java 2 Standard, Micro Edition (J2ME) software. The deal opens the door for millions of developers who create Java applications--such as games, location-based services, financial information, personal productivity tools and entertainment services--to work with Danger's software.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based start-up, which designs the Hiptop handheld, is in the process of making its software Java-compliant and will launch products in the first half of next year that use J2ME.
