Matching the colors on larger items you can't tote into stores or around town can sometimes be difficult -- especially when it's something like your walls or furnishings. If you love color matching and coordination, then SwatchMatic is the app for you.

All you need to get started is an Android device with a camera and a copy of the SwatchMatic app. Once installed, simply point the app at an object to start matching the color. When you see a color tab in the wheel that looks like an exact match, or at least something close, tap on any color tab in the wheel. A whimsically named palette will be generated for you, along with a robot donning the colors.

When you find a color that isn't quite a perfect match (due to lighting or camera quality), you can actually adjust it within the app until it's spot on. Tap on the rectangular icon at the top of the screen that looks like a list. Then, tap the color palette you want to work with. When the picture of the robot loads, touch the slider icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. From there, you can adjust the RGB values of each color. Don't forget to save your changes by pressing Make Palette!

Trying to find colors that complement each other rather than match? Tap on the small double-heart icon at the top of app and choose Complements (or try the Triads). These palettes can help with home improvement projects like remodeling, especially when you don't want an entire room to be slight variations of the same base color.

SwatchMatic has the added benefit of reporting your color palettes in HSV, RGB, and WEB values. With a WEB value for a color you can easily relocate a color you enjoy in a real-life setting into a digital presence. What will you use the palette creation tool for? Tell us in the comments!
