Control which Instagram pics show up on your Photo Map

Instagram 3.0 will map out your geotagged photos to your followers. Here's how to control which photos show up on your Photo Map.

Today Instagram released an update to both its Android and iPhone apps, bringing with it a slew of new features. One of the new features in Instagram 3.0 is a new Photo Map section, which will display your geotagged photos on a map for your followers to view.

If having your photos mapped out for your followers to see where they were taken doesn't sound like something you want to happen, you can control and limit which photos are shown on your map. To edit the photos on your Photo Map, here's what you need to do:

  1. Launch Instagram and navigate to your profile tab.
  2. Tap on Photo Map and zoom into the area you want to remove photos from. Tap on Edit, then tap on the photo(s) and tap on the Edit pop-up.
  3. Deselect any photos you want to remove and tap on Done. Any geotagged information will then permanently be removed from the photos you've deselected.

Viewing photos on a map in Instagram isn't anything new. Prior to this update, geotagged photos were somewhat buried and required you or your follower to go photo by photo, or venue by venue. Now users are able to view a map of all your photos with just a couple taps. If anything, it is a great reminder of how much information you're sharing with the Internet.
