Biz Stone, Evan Williams relaunch Twitter incubator
Two of Twitter's creators are relaunching the incubator that birthed Twitter, The Obvious Corporation. Stone will help out with Twitter on a part-time basis, he says.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said on his blog today he is teaming with another co-founder of the microblogging service, Evan Williams, to restart the company that gave life to Twitter.
The Obvious Corporation will be run by Stone, Williams, and former Twitter product chief Jason Goldman. The trio will "develop new projects and work on solving big problems aligned along a simple mission statement: The Obvious Corporation develops systems that help people work together to improve the world. This is a dream come true!" Stone wrote on his blog.
That means Stone will leave his daily duties at Twitter. He says he'll be involved part time, as he is needed, but will focus most of his time on the restarted incubator and some personal philanthropy projects.
Williams left his role as CEO of Twitter in October and was succeeded by COO Dick Costolo. Since then the third member of Twitter's founding party and former CEO prior to Williams, Jack Dorsey, has stepped in to become the company's executive chairman.
Obvious was the company Williams formed after the trio left Google in 2003 to buy back several failed companies, including Twitter, from investors in a former project.
