Your dream date with Google's Eric Schmidt could happen

A charity auction for coffee with Eric Schmidt is underway and it's shaping up to be a lot cheaper than having coffee with Apple's Tim Cook.

Eric Schmidt
You could sit across from this man. Google

Imagine your date with Google Chairman Eric Schmidt. You meet him at Google's offices in New York City and get a quick tour of the $2 billion facility. You sit down and have a cup of coffee. You gaze into his eyes, smile coyly, discuss the future of mobile technology, and ask for troubleshooting help with your Gmail. Half an hour flies by and you leave, never to see him again.

This story could be yours if you're the winning bidder for a Charitybuzz auction featuring a half-hour coffee session with Schmidt as the prize. The money goes to Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, an organization that connects disadvantaged urban youth with the arts while also providing exhibition opportunities to artists in need of support.

The winning bidder will get to bring a guest along for the coffee meeting. The fine prints notes that the winner and guest may be subject to a security screening and it could take up to year to schedule a mutually agreeable date.

A press release about the auction quotes Schmidt as saying, "I'm delighted to support the important work of RUSH which showcases and empowers young artists. I look forward to hosting the auction winner at Google NYC!"

The auction is currently up to $10,500 with 10 days to go. The estimated value is $50,000. There is still plenty of time for a bidding frenzy to kick in, but there's a long way to go to reach the dizzying heights of a 30-minute coffee date with Apple CEO Tim Cook auctioned last year. It cost the winner a spectacular $610,000. So far, coffee with Schmidt is shaping up to be a relative bargain.
