Some people take cut scenes in a video game for granted, skipping mercilessly past eye-popping visuals and compelling -- or sometimes forgettable -- dialogue.

With more than 55 million copies sold, the Assassin's Creed series holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers, but Indiana astronomy tutor Andy Gilleand took things to a new level. Gilleand carefully created movies out of the cut scenes and gameplay from the five main titles in the series. In total, the movies collectively span over 16 hours and average about 3 hours each.

While each flick may seem quite lengthy, Gilleand says on his YouTube page that his work suits those who don't have the time to progress through a 20-hour video game, but are still interested in the story. It's also a way for people who have already played the game to relive the experience.

The quintet movie saga is a great way to learn the backstory of main protagonist Desmond Miles, and explore his murderous lineage, which includes ancestors (and lead characters in the game series) Altair, Ezio, and Connor.

We've embedded Gilleand's latest work: the complete 4-hour Assassin's Creed III movie. Check out the four other Assassin's Creed movies on Gilleand's YouTube channel.
