Another 14-megapixel compact: Kodak Z1485 IS

new point-and-shoot from Kodak out of Photokina

Kodak announced on Tuesday the EasyShare Z1485 IS, a 14-megapixel point-and-shoot compact camera with a 5x,f/2.8-f/5.1 35-175 mm-equivalent lens, 2.5-inch LCD, optical image stabilization, and a shutter speed down to 1/2,000 of a second. Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, and Samsung have all recently announced cameras with the same or similar megapixel count.

The $299.95 camera (which appears to be in stock now on Kodak's Web site) comes in black, pink, and blue, and looks to be nearly identical in design to the rest of the Z-series cameras. Likewise, it shares many of the features of the series, such as HD photo and video (720p), Kodak's Smart Capture and Perfect Touch technologies that handle all the settings and adjustments before and after you shoot, and scene mode after scene mode.

There's also Manual and Program modes for those that want to experiment with shutter and aperture settings as well as color, white balance, exposure compensation and metering, and ISOs up to 6,400 (though it and ISO 3,200 are available only at 3.1 megapixels).
