Yes, you too will pull a silly pose while wearing Spectacles.
Jason Parker/CNETSnap's first camera is causing a real Spectacle.
If you've been following the Snapbot's progress around the US, it's already dropped off hundreds of pairs of Spectacles to people in California and Oklahoma.
Here's what I've discovered in the first hour of using them:
1. The pairing process is really simple and quick. Put the Spectacles on, turn on Bluetooth on the phone, stare at your Snapcode on screen. Voila! Instant pairing. You can name the Spectacles as well, but by default it uses the naming convention "[Snapchat username]'s Specs".
2. Once you have video, it's possible to pull down the footage in HD. To do this, you need to connect to the Spectacles as a Wi-Fi hotspot in your phone settings. It takes a few minutes to download three 10-second clips.
3. When you connect Spectacles you get a new trophy in the Snapchat app. It's the small things.
4. You can take someone else's Spectacles and pair them with your phone (and it renames them, too).
But when we tried to pair with another phone and pull down footage, the Snapchat app didn't show that there was any video to grab. This might have been because the battery was critically low on the glasses so I'll be doing some more investigation.
Finally, a public service announcement. There's a piece of plastic covering the charging port. You need to pull this off before you can charge the glasses in the included case or with the charging cable that comes in the box. Don't be like me and sit around wondering why your Spectacles are not charging.
