What browser is best for your laptop battery?Microsoft says its Edge browser is great for your battery life. However, another company begs to differ.
The web browser that does not eat your battery. Recently, Microsoft started a campaign saying its new Edge browser offers the best battery life for your laptop. Microsoft compared Edge to Chrome, Firefox and Opera with its power saving mode on. However, Opera did not take too kindly to that. It published a blog post saying, we love it when someone picks a fight. If we get beaten in a test like this We consider it a bug. The Opera team calls out Microsoft for not fully disclosing it's testing methods so it devised its own test with a public methodology. Opera found it's Opera development browser with power saver enabled And native add blocker, letting Windows 10 laptops run 2% longer than Microsoft Edge. Opera let the laptop run 35% longer than Google Chrome. The Opera team says when it originally compares power saving mode to other browsers, it did not bother to look at Microsoft Edge since it runs on Windows 10 only. If you've never heard of Opera, it's a favorite among a small dedicated group. The Opera browser originated tab browsing, a private mode, and native pop-up blocking.
