Your next weed hookup could be a vending machineThis bud's for you, after a scan of your finger. American Green is hunting for venues that want to use its vending machines for age-restricted items.
[MUSIC] It's now possible to buy pot from a vending machine. American Green is making vending machines that dispense cannabis and other age restricted items, like Alcohol. The machine uses finger scanning biometrics to verify the identity of users, but there is a catch. You need to pre-register in person with someone who can verify your ID and set you up with an account But once you have that account, all you need going forward is to scan your finger. And it's not reading your fingerprint, it's actually scanning the pattern of the veins under the skin. It's more secure that way. The company is in talks with putting this in stadiums and casinos, as a faster way to grab a beer. And for casinos, the may even use it to dispense poker chips. A touch screen opens up an interactive possibility like games to win items and a camera on top can identify if the user is male or female to push targeted advertisements. It can also be programmed to cut you off if you're ordering too many drinks The machine keeps track of what you buy and that can be a little weird for those worried about privacy. And of course there's always the possibility that someone could hack it. But maybe people won't mind the risk for the convenience of a faster Bud. Whichever kind of bud that may be. [MUSIC]
