I'm Natali Morris with CNET and you're taking a first look at the Verizon Home Monitoring and Control System.
It's a system that allows you to monitor your home power usage as well as your home appliance and your home security system.
It works on your computer, on your smartphone, on your tablet, and on your Verizon FiOS TV.
So, say, you were upstairs watching TV and you realized you forgot to leave the porch light on, you could go with your remote control into your home system and turn off those lights.
I mean, how lazy do you gotta be, but it's a great feature to have.
You can also go online and control all of your security systems and your appliances and you can see how much energy you're using so that you can learn how to conserve because with home power really, the more you know, the more likely you are to make some changes.
Now, this is really not just in New Jersey this month and then they're gonna roll it out throughout the rest of the country in the first half of this year and we don't have pricing on it just yet.
Your appliances talk to each other over this action tech portal and they talk to each other over Z-Wave.
The IP cam allows you to monitor your home and there aren't a limit to how many IP cams you can use but you do have to use the approved IP cams, so you can't just use any system just right yet.
Again, this is your first look at the Verizon Home Monitoring and Control.
