Use widgets on your Android phone
Hi, Im Molly Wood, and Im here to show you how to use Widgets on your Android phone.
Your Android home screens are highly customizable, as you know you can drag all kinds of
icons up here, move them around, and have multiple home screens.
But widgets are a totally different animal, and they can make your Android home screen useful
and fun at a glance.
To create a widget, press and hold on the home screen until the Add to Home screen menu
appears. Then select Widgets. Youll see several options for widgets, like a clock, your
calendars, Facebook, Music, and so on those are all built in, and then if youve installed apps
that support widgets, like Twidroid or the Weather.com app, you can choose those, too.
Here are some I find particularly useful: the Power Options widget lets you turn WiFi,
Bluetooth, GPS, push sync, or screen brightness on or off with one tap. The Music widget is
really nice, too, and makes it much easier to start and stop songs or playlists. But heres an
even more fun use of widgets. Once the home screen menu is up, choose Picture Frame. This
lets you choose a photo from your album to put on your home screen. Nice touch.
So, there you go; widgets: a cool way to customize your home screens and make them more
useful. For CNET how-to, Im Molly Wood and youre welcome.
