Top iOS 8 camera tipsThe camera gets a big upgrade in iOS 8, giving you time-lapse, a timer, and controls for fine-tuning photos.
[MUSIC] Almost anyone who owns an iPhone will admit that it's their primary camera. So it's a wonderful thing that in IOS 8 the camera's got a substantial upgrade. It all starts with focus, and exposure. Which are the building blocks of a great photo. In IOS 8 you can now control those two settings separately. Here's how it works. Set up your photo, and tap to focus. Then you can control the exposure by sliding the sun icon up or down to brighten the scene or darken it. There's also a new photo mode. Alongside the panorama, square, and video options. Is a new time lapse mode. With it, you can just set up your phone at a spot where you expect some action, hit the red button, and set it there for at least a few minutes. The longer you let it record, the more dramatic your time lapse will be. The final upgrade to the app is the self timer, which you can set to three seconds or ten seconds. It's useful for super-steady selfies or group portraits. For more iOS 8 tips and tricks, check out cnet.com/how-to. For CNET, I'm Sharon Profis. [MUSIC]
