This $30,000 Sony projector is basically a piece of furniture
Hi, I'm David Katzmaier from CNet.
I'm at CES 2018.
I'm here in Sony's booth looking at a very unique product.
This is the Sony LSPXa1, it's a short throw ultra high def 4K projector.
But really, it looks like a piece of furniture.
This little thing is designed to blend into the room and project a 120-inch image on the wall, spaced just 9.6 inches from the wall itself.
So you get the projection, the huge screen of a projection without having a projector across the room or having to walk in front of it or anything like that.
The coolest part about this thing though however is the design.
The top of the projector is made of marble, and the legs themselves are made of a mirror finish that's aluminum.
The bottom of the projector is actually wood so it's a real wood shelf, and the whole thing really looks like a piece of furniture.
There's a new sound technology built into the projector as well.
The legs themselves have little tweeters built into the top and there's midrange, left and right speakers as well as a sub woofer built in.
The whole idea is to project sound into the room and create an ambient sound skate that you can really get from the ceiling and all the way around Room.
The projector isn't cheap for this furniture style design.
It's $30,000 and Sony says it's going to ship in spring.
