Things you should know about Apple's TV appYou can't expect the Apple's TV app to work flawlessly. Here's what you need to know going into it.
The TV app on the AppleTV is really the centerpiece experience with the latest TVOS 10.1 update. Now it's a nice welcome addition to the AppleTV if it supports the content you watch, but it's not the easiest thing to set up, so we wanted to tell you what you should be aware of with the new TV app. One of the new features of the update is the single sign-on feature that gives you access to all of your channels from your cable operator, so that all of their apps Works seamlessly as well. Now that's if your provider has made a deal with Apple. And there aren't that many. Like look there's no XFINITY. There's no Time Warner or Verizon Fios right now. And those are really some of the big boys. If you're someone like me [UNKNOWN] you have to sign on to each app individually. But then some of the phenol load channel apps like Food Network or even Comic Central, they don't have support so you can be a crapshoot and that's obviously pretty frustrating. If it works with the apps, and networks, you watch, or subscribe to, the TV App is really convenient, if it does. But, it's also missing Netflix, and Amazon Prime isn't even available as an App, at the moment. The point here is, to have everything you watch everywhere, synched on all of your Apple devices, and, right now, it feel like a fragmented attempt that could have worked, if every cable provider, and every network, and every service Gave up their user data to be a part of it, so maybe Apple will get there. Now, Apple's also changed how the home button behaves. Now, with the new update, when you press it, it will take you to the watch now screen of the tv app. You'll need to press it a second time then to take you back to the main home screen. Now if you'd like to change it back to how it used to act You can go into your settings, then find remotes and devices, then go to your home button, and you can change it from TV apps to the home screen. So now when you're watching content or doing something else, if you press the home button it will go directly to your home screen. So the new TV app, it does look nice, I did say that before, and it really works well if all your TV content works seamlessly with it. Well, like we said before, this is just some of the things we wanted to let you know about before you jump into the tv app, and the things you should be aware of.
