The Skyrocket Sky Viper Hover Racer gamifies toy drones
The fun of flying a toy drone can quickly turn to boredom.
Leaving you in search of what to do with it next.
That's something you won't have to think about with Skyrocket Toys' Sky Viper Hover Racer coming this fall.
The $100 quad copter has infrared sensors on board that work with a set of included infrared beacons.
You use the beacons as checkpoints as you race at speeds up to 20 miles per hour at just three feet above the ground.
You can track your progress with a free mobile app.
And you can compete with up to four racers at a time.
The drones infrared as virtual weapons too.
So you can attack your opponents while racing or in dog fights.
And the drones will actually respond to getting hit.
The better you race, the more weapons or performance enhancements you can unlock in the act.
If you only have one drone, the app has a copilot option, letting a friend connect to the quadcopter with a second device and send off on-screen attacks while you concentrate on hitting the beacons.
Basically, the hover racer takes a toy car copter and turns into into a multi-player real life video game.
