CNET First Look
The SanDisk Extreme 900 is an extreme portable SSDCNET editor Dong Ngo explains the difference between the superfast Extreme 900 and a competing drive -- and why he has both of them.
Hi guys. This is the Extreme 900 portable SSD from SanDisk. So what's so extreme about this one? Well first, it's extremely large. Okay it's not huge, but compared to this Samsung T3 right here, well you can see the difference. Now the SanDisk here has 1.92 terabytes, and this one right here has 2 terabytes. And take a look. Extremely large. Now the second is also extremely fast. In my testing it got the sustained real world copy speed of some 350 megabytes per second. Now that's as fast as can be for the solid state drive on the inside. The drive [UNKNOWN] has a USB-C port on the side right here. It comes with two cables, one of them is a [UNKNOWN] USB-C cable right here for newer devices And the other one is a compatible USBC cable here. So that the drive can work with all existing USB ports. Now the Extreme 900 has aluminum casing with rubber edges that protect the drive on the inside or Shocks and drops. It also includes security software to protect data against loss or theft. And it has one more very special feature that even more effective against theft and loss. That is, the price. Now, the top capacity of 1.92 TB here costs some $800, and for something that expensive, your lady would make sure you would not lose it. Or else. Now you know [INAUDIBLE] extreme 900 and the Samsung T3 are ver similar in terms of performance, pricing, and feature. But if you want something that also appears substantial and ostentatious, this SanDisk here has a huge advantage. So, if you drive a [INAUDIBLE] this is the portable drive for you. On the other hand, if you extremely good looking, sexy, and especially artist you have them both which I do. That's only because you guessed it. I'm **** Ngo. [MUSIC]
