Tech Minute: Handy flashlight apps for your smartphoneWhile you're trick-or-treating with your kids this Halloween, your hands will be full with candy bags and a camera. Who has room to carry a flashlight? Make your smartphone do double duty and download one of these flashlight apps. CNET's Kara Tsuboi reports...
A must on the flashlight app for iPhone users simply called light. It boasts an incredibly simple and beautiful interface with just the most necessary features. As soon as you open the app, the flashlight, which uses your iPhone's flash will automatically be on. Adjust the dial on the left to increase the beam's intensity. The three buttons on the bottom are for SOS, the regular flash light and for a strobe light, which you can adjust the frequency of the flashing. This app is intuitive, handy and best of all, completely free. Another wonderfully free flashlight app is called Brightest Flashlight and it's for Android users. It works by turning on all the available lights on the device. The camera flash, screen and keyboard backlight. Well, the set was also relatively simple. There are settings for sound effects and even a handy timer. Whichever you choose to download, these apps will turn your smartphone into a multi-tasking tool.
