SVS' compact movie-making machinesThe SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 System is a force to be reckoned with, thanks in large part to its potent subwoofer, and sounds tremendous with movies.
[MUSIC] If you're looking at investing in a surround sound speaker package, you want to make sure you're getting good bang for your buck. And something which has an eye to meshing with your living space. At $1000 the SVS prime Satellite 5.1 system offers a high number of speakers and keeps things compact with satellites at less than nine inches tall. The system we received comes in gloss black for next to 200 bucks, while the standard version is black ash, and it comes with removable speaker grilles. The satellites are solid and well made and don't ring when knocked. They're ported for better bass response and come with a 4.5 inch polypropylene driver and a one inch aluminum tweeter. The star of the system though is the SV1000 sealed subwoofer, which comes with a 12 inch driver. As a system that is geared more towards movie sound, it is able to generate exciting renditions of your favorite movies under [INAUDIBLE] bass and. The sub. The speakers aren't as successful with music as they tend to lack the warmth expected of the best systems for the money. However, if you want a style oriented system, the SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 isn't a bad looking option for the money. This is Todd Pendlebury for cnet.com. [MUSIC]
