Sony's Cyber-shot RX10 III ups the zoom-lens ante for 1-inch sensor compacts
If you want to large sensor compact camera with a fast lens your options are plentiful.
But if you want a long zoom lens instead, the field narrows considerably.
Sony's Cybershot RX10 and its F28 24 to 200 millimeter lens Was first in its category but since its launch in 2013, Panasonic, Canon, and Nikon have made cameras with much more zoom range.
Sony is now striking back with the RX10 Mark III and its huge F244 24-600 millimeters lens.
That lens is the biggest difference between it and the Mark II, which used the same lens as the first RX10.
The body is still water and dust resistant, and its tilting display and big OLED viewfinder are along for the ride too.
As are headphone and mic jacks, But the lens now has three control rings for aperture, zoom and focus, as well as a focus lock button.
Likewise, the Mark III shooting capabilities are basically the same as the Mark II, touting features such as 4k movie capture as well as super slow motion Eclipse at 960 frames per second, an electronic shutter with speeds up to 1/32000 ths of a second and 20 megapixel photos snapped at up to 14 frames per second.
By specs alone, it will be one of the most powerful bridge cameras available when it arrives in May for $1500 in the US And 1,250 pounds in the UK.
