Skullcandy 50/50 earbuds
>> For iPhone owners who use their phone as their primary portable music player, a pair of ear phones with the integrative mike and playback controls can be a sanity saver. I'm Jasmine France for CNET, and I'm here with one such set, the Skullcandy 50/50 earbuds. The 50/50s are actually on an unassuming side for Skullcandy, although they do come in a choice of six colors -- black, black and chrome, white and chrome, shoe red, shoe blue and green and white, which I have here. The cell is understated and inspires little complaint. Fit does present a bit of an issue, since the earpiece apertures are on the large side and are made of cheap-feeling plastic. Skullcandy includes three sets of soft silicone ear tips, but none worked quite right for me. Also, overall construction isn't the greatest. The cable is flexible but tangles very easily and seems fragile at the connections, the plug and the ear pieces. However, I do applaud the inclusion of this built-in mike and control module, which works with both the iPhone and most iPods as well. And the earphones certainly sound better than the stock buds that come with the iPhone, especially when it comes to bass, which is plentiful. But it is worth noting that the low-end response tends to be loose and mushy, and clarity is not the greatest. For $50 the Skullcandy 50/50s aren't the most amazing earphones, but they do offer a step up from the ones that were packaged with your player. I'm Jasmine France for CNET, and this has been a first look at the Skullcandy 50/50 earbuds.
