If you're in the habit of frequently sharing your headphones with friends and family members, the Sharebuds are an intriguing concept, though they're a bit overpriced.
[ Music ] ^M00:00:02 >> I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm here to give you a brief video tour of some kind of interesting earbuds-style headphones. These are the Mida Interactive ShareBuds. The idea behind these earbuds is that you get two -- yes, two headphones for the price of one and they are really designed for that person who likes to share their headphones. And you don't want to have to put just one earbud in each ear because that happens a lot when people are trying to share their buds and it really doesn't sound that good. You get really bad mono sound. With these you get stereo sound from two sets of headphones. There's just one jack and it goes into your portable audio device. It could also be a portable video device of course. This does work with portable DVD players for instance. There are actually two versions of ShareBuds. One of them has a retractable cable or actually two retractable cables. Unfortunately, the mechanism isn't all that great with little trouble rolling up the cord. So really it may not be worth the extra $10 for the retractable do-dad on these headphones. The earbuds themselves are your typical soft tip earbuds that comes with three different size tips so that you can custom-fit them to your ear. So, one of them should fit your ear pretty well. I wouldn't exactly call them high-end earbuds. They're pretty run of the mill. In terms of sound they don't sound bad, but they don't sound great either. So, these are really designed for someone who really shares their headphones a lot and I can see a family taking -- or on a trip, if they don't want to carry around two headphones with them. But, otherwise they're a little bit expensive, both models are a little bit overpriced at $40 and $50. Ideally you'd see these around $25. I'm David Carnoy and those are the Mida Interactive ShareBuds. ^M00:01:47 [ Music ]
